kreitzerMary Jo Kreitzer, PhD, RN the founder and director of the Center for Spirituality and Healing at the University of Minnesota, discusses the relationship between the design of spaces and health outcomes and how this knowledge is being applied in health care settings. Dr. Kreitzer sites the growing interest in academia and research studies which support the weaving of integrative practices with allopathic medicine into the fabric of health care. There have been well over 1000 studies that resulted in evidence that the physical environment can affect health outcome. She tells us this is a rich time to utilize the finding from these studies, as $16 billion dollars have been invested to construct new hospitals. Mary Jo offers inspiration and advocates the effectiveness of personal action to make changes in our current health care system.
